About BetchoiceBetchoice is an Australian based online gambling portal for Racing (gallops, harness, greyhounds), Sports (League, AFL, Tennis, Soccer, Boxing, etc.) and Novelty bets (Elections, reality shows etc). We also offer a phone betting service through a Darwin based call centre. Betchoice is a privately owned company with around 30 staff located in it's two offices in the Northern Territory and Sydney, and has an annual turnover of around AUD$200,000,000.
Betchoice was formed by a partnership between Sydney bookmakers Colin Tidy and Mark Morrissey in 2001, originally sole trading under Colin Tidy's name. In October 2006 Betchoice was corporatised and a Northern Territory licence was obtained to allow it to offer a greater product range than it could from its original base in NSW. These additional betting options included non-feature racing events and a range of more obscure events such as elections and TV programmes (big brother etc.)
Colin has had 39 years as an on-course bookmaker and holds a NSW rails bookmakers license. Colin is arguably the best known bookmaker operating in Australia today. His profile having blossomed not just through his popularity amongst punters and fellow bookmakers alike, but also due to his great success in the breeding industry through his highly successful sire Zedative. Mention the name of Colin Tidy to anyone in any segment of the racing industry and you will be met with positive comments and an attitude of respect.
Mark has 30 years in the bookmaking industry and holds a Sydney metropolitan bookmakers license. There are few more experienced and respected in the bookmaking industry than Mark. Prior to forming Betchoice with Colin Tidy, Mark held high profile positions with such industry notables as Mark Read and Bill Hurley. His views on racing are quoted in the media more often than any other bookmaker in Australia, such is the high regard for his opinion throughout the racing industry.
Colin has held Bookmakers and clerks licenses since 1975, working with the biggest bookmakers of the modern era including Bruce McHugh in the early 80s. Colin became McHugh's right hand man within 2 years. After Bruce retired Colin joined Bill Hurley and was instrumental in setting up Bill Hurley's Feature Doubles and Australian SportsBook businesses. He then joined up with Colin Tidy and Mark Morrissey when they started the new sports and racing venture in 2000. Colin left the horse racing side of the business and took over the Sports betting in 2004 and has seen unprecedented growth since.
